The Community

Anchorage is a 55+ deed restricted community located in Palm Harbor, Florida, with 248 single family homes located directly north of John Chesnut Park between East Lake Road and Lake Tarpon. Close by are the Lansbrook Golf course, John Geigle (North Pinellas) YMCA, and the Pinellas Trail (a multi-use urban bike and pedestrian thoroughfare). A Publix supermarket (motto: "Where shopping is a pleasure") is less than a mile away, just a few minutes bike ride or brisk walk. The neighborhood Walgreen's is right at the entrance to Anchorage!.

Most of the homes in Anchorage were built in the early 1970's. The community has a nautical theme and the streets have nautical names. An "anchorage" is a place where a ship drops anchor. Most residents are happy that they "dropped anchor" here in "Anchorage".

Anchorage has a large modern (just updated in 2022!) clubhouse with a capacity of 200 people. The Clubhouse also includes kitchen facilities, a pool table, free lending library, game table, two Internet-connected Smart TV's and a great sound system. An oversize swimming pool with deck chairs and loungers completes the Florida lifestyle.'

Board of Directors

The Association is managed by a 5-member all-volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors are elected by the community and serve two year terms. Unlike many neighboring communities with outside management companies (and substantially higher HOA fees!), the Board of Directors manage all aspects of the community. Our HOA fees are among the lowest in the area, thanks to our volunteers! If you are interested in serving on the board, one of our committees, or are just feelin' friendly, please come to the next board meeting (usually on the THIRD Thursday of the month at 7 PM, at the Clubhouse) and say "HI!"

Key Location

Anchorage is in an ideal location in North Pinellas County. If you like beaches, we're only a short drive from Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin, or a few minutes longer drive to world-renowned Clearwater Beach. Kayaking? Sure, how about RIGHT NEXT DOOR on Lake Tarpon, or paddle the Gulf of Mexico from the Dunedin Causeway. You can paddle to Caladesi Island, where the beach is typically deserted because the only way there is by water! We're RIGHT NEXT DOOR to John Chesnut County Park, with our own "private" entrance! Do you like beer? There's at least a dozen breweries within a 15 minute drive of Anchorage, and dozens more just a bit further. Golf? Lansbrook Golf Course is just up the road. If you need to visit the relatives in cooler climates, there's TWO airports in our area, Tampa (TPA) and Clearwater-St. Pete (PIE) Tampa is about a 45 minute drive, and Clearwater, perhaps 30 minutes. Restaurants ? Zillions, but you like fish, try a famous grouper sandwich from Frenchy's. They have their own fishing boats, so the sandwich you eat this afternoon was probably swimming early in the morning!

Wild (and not-so-wild) Life

Anchorage is located right next door to beautiful John Chesnut County Park, a 250 acre preserve on the shores of Lake Tarpon, the largest freshwater lake in Pinellas County. Many wild (and not-so-wild) animals, notably deer, wander back and forth between Anchorage and the Park. It's not unusual to occasionally find several deer napping in your front yard! We have a whole "flock" of feathered friends including Cardinals, tufted titmice, wrens (little bird with a loud voice!) red-shouldered hawks, osprey, barred owls, and several bald eagles . Of course, this IS Florida, and alligators also live next door. Most 'gators are shy, but in case you see a gator that didn't get the "shy" memo, 'gators are best observed with respect, and from a safe distance.
